Don’t forget where you came from

Wow! What a difference 10 years makes! Am I right!? I went from a total drug addicted, alcoholic mess to a sober, clear headed Christian missionary living a life full of adventure and purpose! There is so much power in our testimony guys. It literally says in the Bible that “we will OVERCOME by the blood of the lamb and the word of our TESTIMONY!”

I just want to share how amazed and thankful I am for God reaching out to me when I was so far from Him and how He put me in my right mind and saved me from going down the dark path of destruction that I was on.

The beautiful thing about our testimonies is that they can’t be taken away from us. When I share with people who don’t believe The same as I do about Jesus they can disagree with me all day about Him and the Bible, but they can’t argue with me about my story and my experience and what happened to me. It’s my testimony! I have had people try to make sense of my story by saying things like “no, you got sober on your own God didn’t help you, it’s in your head.” I can tell them and you with confidence that it had very little to do with me and everything to do with God. He saved me and I know that beyond a shadow of a doubt. I can’t fully even explain the experience I had with God, but I can tell you that He changed me. From the inside out. He removed the desire from my heart to use drugs and alcohol and gave me a new desire to follow Him. I was on a path filled with pain, sadness, and destruction, but God Literally saved me and put me on a path of hope, life, and joy. I have never felt so alive since I became a Christian! Not even my best drug experiences come close to the joy I experience in my life now. I have more fun on accident now then when I tried too on purpose as an addict.

To the Christian reading this I want to remind you of where you came from. Sometimes we can get so far away from who we were we can forget how bad we really used to be. Don’t be afraid to share your story, especially with yourself. Remember how far He has brought you! Even in all the ups and downs He’s still working in your life! If you’ve forgotten where you came from or gotten slack in your walk with God and you’re coasting it’s time to get back up and get in the fight, there’s so many hurt and broken people in this world that need the hope that you and I have! The Bible says that we our the light of the world and that we should let our good deeds shine out for all to see so that everyone will praise God!

To the non Christian. I just want to let you know much God loves you and the same way He saved me and many other people, He can save you too! Whatever your facing today wether it be depression, addiction, loneliness, bitterness, hate, whatever. God’s heart is for you to be free and whole. It doesn’t make God happy to see you suffering, it actually breaks his heart. So my prayer is that you would feel his presence in your life, that your eyes would be open to Gods reality and that you would experience Him and that it would change you from the inside out just like I was. You’re not too far gone that God still can’t save you. There’s hope for you today.
